Dover Flour
History

Dover Flour's tradition began a long time ago in 1807 - before Canada was Canada. From the beginning, quality, value and service have been the primary objectives. We believe that's why we're still going strong today.

Our history really is a slice of Canadian life and we have been baking history ever since. The tradition began in 1807 when John Erb built a gristmill on the banks of the Speed River in Cambridge, Ontario. Today, the Cambridge mill is "the oldest place of continuing business in Waterloo County". So reads the plaque placed at the mill by the Waterloo Historical Society in 1928.

In 1968, our Halifax mill came on stream to serve both local and international markets and is the only flourmill in the Atlantic Provinces.

In 2003 Dover acquired Halton Flour in Acton, increasing its ability to meet the needs of their customers. Further expansion occurred in 2007 when the company acquired the flour milling assets of Dawn Foods (Canada) Ltd. in Saskatchewan.

The traditions of yesterday. The trends of tomorrow.

We're taking the good things of the past and adding the food science of today to produce the flours of the future.
